When it comes to roofing, there are many different options to choose from, each with its own set of benefits that range from affordability, durability, longevity, aesthetic appeal, etc. It’s important when deciding what type is best for you that you consider all aspects such as climate type, budget constraints, style preferences etc. Shingle roofs are by far the most popular and traditional roofing material.

Whether you have a shingled roof that needs repairs, or you are planning to have a new shingled roof installed, Perdomo Roofing & Sheet Metal, LLC is your local roofing expert. As a local family-owned business, we know Louisiana weather and a GAF roof installed by us is built tough to withstand the wind and rain. Additionally, we are certified experts at installing Fortified Roof™ systems.

Types of Shingles

There are 3 different grades of Asphalt shingles to choose from, ranging from good to better to best.

3-Tab – The simplest and least expensive type of asphalt shingle. Sometimes called “strip” shingles, they are single layered. They are the lowest quality of shingle and not recommended for our South Louisiana climate, therefore we avoid using this type of shingle when replacing a roofing system.

Architectural – Architectural shingles are the most common choice for homeowners. Also known as “laminate” shingles, they’re made with multiple layers which are fused together, resulting in a rich, multidimensional look that more closely resemble wooden shakes or slate roofing. These dimensional shingles are typically heavier than strip shingles and have improved warranty protection. Premium laminate shingles offer a variety of different textures and colors and often come with warranties for up to 50 years.

SHINGLES

Designer – Often called “premium” or “luxury” shingles. They are typically multi-layered and provide the highest end multidimensional look. Apart from offering premium protection for weathering, luxury shingles are stunning to look upon, presenting the highest quality, coloration, and dimensionality. These products offer the most realistic representation of the old-world wood shake and quarried slate roofing.

Our installations come with 50-year warranties and now, we are pleased to offer a WindProven™ Limited Wind Warranty – the industry’s first wind warranty with no maximum wind speed limitations when installed with the required combination of qualifying accessories.
